What We Do

We just finished 31 days of traveling the U.S. helping other ministries and sharing our vision with anyone who wanted to hear. We were asked many questions, but one emerged as the number one asked. Here is what we had to say in response to this question in our June Partner Letter:

People ask us all of the time what we are doing. In a society that bases a person’s worth on their occupation, it makes sense. Scott usually responds by telling people our vision- to preach the Gospel to the lost, help the widows and orphans in their time of need, and build up believers to do the work of the ministry. Typically that is followed by a blank stare. It is almost as if you can see people thinking to themselves, “so what do you do?”.

The truth is, we don’t have lives that fit neatly into a typical box. Our lives look different from one day to another. The only routine in our lives is a lack of routine, and we wouldn’t have it any other way. We aren’t wandering aimlessly through life; in fact we are very purposefully following God’s plan for our life.

So what do we do? In the last month, we have:

  • Been in 4 states in 3 time zones.
  • Spent 7 nights at a church, 9 nights in people’s homes, 13 nights in hotels, and 1 night on an airplane.
  • Attended 5 different churches for Sunday services.
  • Worked in a church office and a ministry home office.
  • Preached in a church and 2 juvenile detention centers.
  • Helped manage a skate park at a 3 day Christian concert festival.
  • Visited with over 50 pastors, partners, friends, and family to spread the vision of RSUM and encourage them in their work.
  • Had 1 full day off.

And the rest of our lives are not that different from yours- we need to do laundry, eat 3 meals a day, keep in contact with family and friends, pay bills, check Facebook. We need to spend time with God, and live in peace with each other. We dream about the future, plan for the present, and thank God for His past faithfulness. We are doing our best to follow God and love people. That is what we do. How about you?

We love to share our vision with people. If you are interested in finding out more about what we do you can visit the ministry site, www.rightsideupministries.org, or send us an email, info@rightsideupministries.org. We look forward to hearing from you.
